I picked up this plain pine/wooden box at the Dollar Tree. I'd been wanting to play with the Configurations box from Tim Holtz, but was afraid to spend the money and mess the thing up- so when I found these at Dollar Tree- I picked up an armload of them! It's much much smaller than the Configurations boxes- but perfect for a first attempt. And I had lots of fun painting and sanding and making the wood look all beaten up- then I just searched my house for any random P.O.S. to put into the box. See the glass vial? Inside are down feathers I ever so carefully pulled out of a cushion on the couch! Talk about a carefully collected specimen! The army man, I painted gold. I thought it made him look more bronze statue and less green plastic. In the bottom right corner, that's a Christmas tree lightbuld, standing up in the middle of two washers.
