this is so impressive, and what a great idea.my dad and I watched many john wayne movies together...luved him as a soldier more so than a cowboy myself...
The idea for this LO was completely inspired by the talanted Ms. Maggi43 with her awesome LO called "Wanted." Until I saw her LO I had never thought about doing a non-personal LO of someone famous. I really wanted to make my Dad something special this year too, but nothing would come to mind! Ugh! Until I saw Maggi43's "Wanted." Then I realized how much my Dad admired John Wayne. He is a huge fan and his home is decorated is southwetern with several collections of Rodeo, Couboy and Indian figurines. My Dad has seen every John Wayne movie ever produced and he is my Dad's all time favoriate beloved actor. I have a beautiful dark brown wooden shadow box for this LO which should set it off nicely.
This type of LO was quite a departure for me from the "girly" stuff I've been working on, so I'm hoping he'll like it. It's a bit unfinished at this point lacking a reference to "Rio Grande" in the Tim Holtz frame and a few eyelets with rope lacing on the side of "Duke." But the morning light to photograph was getting away from me before I could finish those details. Since I have to finish it today and wrap and ship for tomorrow, I figured I'd better snap a pic, while the getting was good.
I used the Old West cricut cart to make the stage couch and added a little Dusty Attic in the corners.
Thank you so much for dropping by my gallery and I hope your having a happy day!!!
