I had big plans for our 20th dating anniversary, December 31st, 2011, but I woke up feeling sick and throughout the day only got worse. So we had to celebrate on New Year's Day, which was okay because technically, that is the anniversary. Twenty years ago, Junior took me to his brother's house for a New Years party. I didn't know he wasn't supposed to go anywhere else. But I knew I didn't want to stay there, I was always uncomfortable being where I knew I didn't belong. A few minutes after arriving, I was ready to go. And then the door opened and in walked my little sisters, Heidi and Kara with Eddie! What were they doing there? Selling fresh rolls of Copenhagen to all the cowboys at the party. As soon as they left, I told Junior I wanted to go home. I didn't really want to go home because it was New Year's Eve and I wanted to do something fun. So when we got to my apartment, I told him I was going for a walk in Dog Island Park, knowing he wouldn't let me go by myself. I was right. We walked in the park, found a rock to sit on and spent the next six hours kissing and talking. That was the beginning and twenty years later, I feel like a newlywed because of what God is doing in our lives. We are so blessed.
