Love this layout even if it is one of your older ones! The combination of papers and embellishments are just perfect and your journaling about the story behind the dress is wonderful! Great picture, too!
This is so beautiful Betty, I absolutely adore that dress and it's no wonder she got so many compliments!! I wish ladies dressed like that again all the time LOL! I guess if I had gone through the 50's I might think differently, dunno. Saving this to faves!

AWWWWWWWW! What a GREAT story! I feel pretty myself, just reading this story about your Sarah! Thank you so much for sharing it with us! And your beautiful layout!!!!!
Journaling reads: "Sarah was hired to play piano for the Christmas program at church this year. In past years, the band was required to wear all black – this year they added grey as an option. After searching through her closet, trying to find something different from the past years, we settled on a black dress that she bought a few years ago. The dress is made in a style reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe’s white dress in the well-known sidewalk scene from “The Seven Year Itch” (and we’ve always referred to it as her “Marilyn” dress). After pairing the dress with this cute vintage style sweater, I suggested that we get a black crinoline to go under the skirt. (I don’t think Sarah was too keen on this idea at first). Add a string of vintage pearls, bright red lipstick, shear, black, dotted stockings and a pair of black pointy-toed pumps – and Sarah looked like she had stepped straight out of the 1950’s. When she walked across the stage that night, skirt bouncing lightly, she was beautiful. Later we kidded her that she should have danced her way across to the tune of “I Feel Pretty”. Heading home that evening, she told me that she had never had so many compliments in her life – every woman and nearly every man in the band and choir had stopped her to remark on her outfit. People were even stopping her on the way out of the building to comment. That’s the kind of night that makes a girl feel pretty. On a side note... Sarah’s playing was flawless, magnificent, as always. The piano carried the music through most of the songs in the program. She is and always will be my beautiful, shining star! December 11,2011"
I used a random mixture of old Christmas prints, some K & Co stickers, gold bling and a pretty MS border punch. The black mat is punched with a pretty corner punch and doodled with gold. The small scallops around the circle were cut with deco scissors. The swirls, berries and leaves are hand cut and doodled with metallic gold. The lettering was cut on the Cuttlebug out of gold paper. The "music" paper's edges were burned with a match (very messy, but I like the effect). The journaling is tucked behind the layout - attached to the berries at the top. Thanks so much for looking!
