Looks like a golf ball holder :) My former father in law had one on the sun porch to hold all the balls he collected from his travels! it will make a great shelf though!

I plan to repaint the blue squares. Not sure if I'll repaint the other display cabinet. It's cherry wood colour but there are a few nicks in it. I'm not sure what it was originally used for as there are dipped holes in the centre. I thought thimbles but not sure?
