The San Jacinto monument is a monument dedicated to the Texan defeat of the Mexican Army on April 21, 1836 and the formation of the Republic of Texas. The monument itself, 570-feet-tall, is built of reinforced concrete and faced with fossilized Texas Cordova shellstone, quarried near Austin, TX. The monument is topped with a 34-foot-tall Texas Lone Star. The view from the monument is awesome!
