Journaling: Week 6: February 5-8
Here we are, that Sunday of all Sundays. It's time for the Super Bowl! Even though David's beloved Steelers didn't make it this year he's still a huge football fan so we planned on watching the big event. His family decided to have a party at his mother's house… everyone bring a dish and head on over whenever you are ready. One major obstacle I had to overcome before the get together was my hair. Let's just say my color had a little less color than desired. I picked up a do-it-yourself kit and recruited my Darling David to be my salon assistant. I have to admit that my heart started beating a little faster as I watched him put on the gloves, combine the ingredients and approach my head. And I almost jumped out of the chair screaming “STOP STOP” at the first touch of liquid to my scalp. Lo and behold, to my surprise my assistant turned out to be a full-fledged specialist when I saw his completed work. He is so good at everything he does; I'm now scheduled for a coloring every month with him! We loaded Sweets into the Outlander, stopped by Subway to pick up a party platter, and made our way to their house. When we arrived our party platter of subs were almost lost amongst the enormous assortment of food already spread on the table. There was pizza, chicken and jo-jos, hot wings, chips, cheese and crackers, deviled eggs, pigs-in-a-blanket, cookies, cupcakes; it was a food bonanza! After we ate and the game started the men went downstairs to watch the game while we girls gathered upstairs to have some crafting fun. It was so much fun crafting with them. I ended up making a button covered picture frame, a doily wreath, and some little owl cards. David said the game itself was good but I could tell he wasn't as into it as he was last year. That man bleeds black and gold. With full stomachs and early work days tomorrow we piled back into the car, carrying out more food than we brought in. I love leftovers! This had turned out to be a great Sunday full of memories and I'm glad I have such an amazingly fun family to make them with. Monday equaled back to the grind day. I was scheduled for a short day but starting at 6:00am is still starting at 6:00am so I had a feeling a nap was in my future. Our Outlander crossed the 1000 mile marker already as David's chauffeuring me around is really adding up miles quickly. I'm still not ready to get behind the wheel yet and I am loving the extra time we get together so it's just a necessary evil right now. My Studio Calico Kit arrived today so I had plenty of goodies to play with until David got home. Tuesday was another 6:00am open the store day so the sun rose upon me already hard at work. This was a 6:00am to 2:00pm day so by the time I got home I instantly hit crash mode. Around 6:00pm David woke me up with a text, asking if anything might have been delivered to the house today. I went downstairs and SHAZAAM, this huge box was sitting by the front door. I had no idea what it was so I left it there until he got home. He brought it in for me and told me it was a birthday present that I would definitely want to open early. I eagerly opened the box to find that my darling had bought me a Silhouette Cameo! I was totally blown away by this because I knew how expensive they can be and by the fact that he actually remembered that I was so wanting one of them! He spoils me so much but I love it AND I love him more! Just by this I knew my birthday would be great so I went to sleep with a huge smile on my face. Wednesday means Happy Birthday to me! 26 years old…does that make me an old lady now? David left me a super sweet card on my laptop along with a couple bags of my favorite candies so that I had something to munch on while I played with my new Cameo. I literally did not leave my room all day I just sat there creating designs and watching the Cameo cut each of them out perfectly in front of me. By the time David got home my desk was covered with cut outs but I couldn't help myself, the Cameo is so awesome! Thank you for a great birthday David. You make all of my dreams come true.
