Cardmaking

Just a layout I did about one of my hobbies. Journaling reads:

When I get tired of sitting at the computer, I like to retreat back to my craft room and make a card or two. Though I enjoy the ease and precision of digital imaging, it can be therapeutic to go back to the messiness of paper, scissors, and glue. There are many tools of the trade, yet I've learned that I only need a handful to succeed at the craft. A few of my must-haves are: plain cardstock paper, a straight-edge cutter, dry adhesives (no Elmer's glue here), gel pens, and puffy paint for a 3D effect. Occasionally, I'll use brads, ribbon, and foam mounting squares if I really want to go all out. Sometimes I make cards out of photos I've taken, combining photography and cardmaking into one craft. Other times, I create my own little motifs. I don't use stamps, preferring instead to make my own designs. I've learned that matting can make even the most simple designs look professionally done, believe it or not. Sometimes I'll make one for a specific occasion, while other times I'll just make some generic birthday or thank you cards that I can just grab when I don't have time to make one specially. Either way, I think that giving a handmade card is better than just buying one at the store. And it gives me an opportunity to have fun, too.
