Friday, September 23rd, 2011 – I wanted spend some time with my Flapper girlfriend, Amy Holland, who lives in Portland. There was a Scrapbook Expo this weekend at the convention center! Perfect! I called Amy and made arrangements to pick her up at her parent's house.

First Bill and I went to Bruce's house and threw our dirty clothes from Cancun in his washer. Then the 3 of us drove to pick up Amy (Jessica had to work). Amy asked if her mother could go too. Her mother, Becky, is always invited – she's kind of like an honorary Flapper!

After lots of walking around the expo and lots of fun shopping for papers and scrapbook supplies, Amy, Becky and I walked several blocks to Red Robin. I didn't expect Becky to pay for my lunch so that was really a surprise treat! What a wonderful time we had!

When we finished eating, we called Bill to pick us up; he and Bruce had also enjoyed a nice day together! We took Amy and Becky home and then Bill, Bruce and I hurried to meet Jessica. Dinner that night was at a really good BBQ place which had very casual outside dining. Then back to Bruce and Jessica's house to fold our laundry. We were tired; as soon as we got to our hotel and put our heads on our pillow we were asleep.

Saturday, September 24th, 2011 – Bruce and Jessica took us to their favorite doughnut place – Voo Doo Donuts. The restaurant was Pepto-Bismal pink outside with old sofas and battered chairs on one side and it was even more unusual inside. We were immediately drawn to the large case with the donuts revolving around. Such unusual donuts! Donuts covered with Tang drink mix, Trix cereal, Coco Puffs, pretzels and other items most people would never think to put on a doughnut.

Jessica and I both had a vanilla/lemon cream filled donut, Bruce chose the cereal coated donuts and Bill picked a toasted coconut doughnut. I can honestly say without exaggeration that this donut was the best doughnut I've ever had in my life! I could have eaten a dozen of them! Bill had the same rave reviews for his coconut doughnut!
