My third two page set for my lenton art journal.
Journaling: In those days John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness of Judea, proclaiming, “Repent, for the Kingdom of heaven has come near.” Mathew 3:1 and 2
John the Baptist came to the people to prepare the way for Jesus. He was dressed in skins and ate the bugs and honey. He was at piece in the wilderness taking what he could gather from the land to sustain himself while doing the work set before him by God. By living a simple life he was able to hear the words of God and believe in him. John did not want creature comfort for he had the comfort of the Lord. By carving out a space in the wilderness where I can put aside all of the distractions of the modern world, tv, books, computers, phones, and any other way that I manage to distract myself, I can also find that comfort. One of the ways that I can work towards this is by finding time in my busy day when I spend time in the word and prayer. So far I am still working on putting aside my distractions for a portion of my day. With practice it should become easier as the days and weeks go by.
