My Mum is English, so half my family was always living in England. I had my first passport and decided I should scrapbook it, as I spent about three months there on that first journey to visit my grandparents. Actually, I learned to talk there and have a few little memories of that first jaunt across the pond. My Mum tells me that the plane ride was a living hell, with an emergency landing in Goose Bay Canada, precautionary stops in Iceland and Scotland before finally landing in Manchester, England. We also both got very ill and ended up with many doctor visits once at my Nana's. Good thing I don't remember much, huh?!

ETA: another reason the old passport was special is that my father, who died 11 years ago, signed it because my mother could not since she wasn't an American citizen.
