Upper photos and photo right: All over Busan we saw people (mostly women) selling vegetables on the side of the road. Although older women would occasionally sit in a folding chair, most sat right on the sidewalk with their bowls of produce around them. Some city blocks were lined with these women on both sides of the street.

Photos below – left and right: When we got off the subway we were across the street from the fish market district. A large sign over the street said, “World Famous Fish Market”. As soon as you walked under the sign the street was filled with vendors selling fish and seafood. The ones in the center of the road worked out of “fish stands” which can be seen in both lower photos.

Both sides of the sidewalk were lined shoulder to shoulder with smaller fish stands selling every kind of seafood imaginable but the sanitary conditions did not look good. And I'm not going to mention how bad it smelled when we walked down that street!

Once you reached the end of the street seafood vendors there was a big modern building comparable to the size of a modern Walmart. The upstairs was all seafood restaurants and the entire downstairs was devoted to selling everything even remotely edible from the sea. While we were there trucks continually delivered more seafood which was just caught and in many cases, still alive!

All of the pictures on the next two pager were taken from the inside market.
