OMIGOSH! Such a FABULOUS layout! So many creative details here! Along with what everyone else has said about your recreation of her hair ornament and the lanterns, another detail I think I will "borrow" is the large circle frame around the picture, with the scallops (or small circles creating the scallop effect). Cropper to Cropper - I can tell how much love you put into this layout! Well Done!
This is a FANTASTIC layout! I love it! The way you recreated the ornament from the Geisha's hair by making those pink triangular pieces is genius! (My mom, "Quick Silver," directed me to this layout, because she knew I'd just love it.) Faves., of course.
Since I can remember I have been intrigued by the fascinating world of Japanese Geisha's. Arthur Golden's Memoires of a Geisha is one of my favourite books of alltimes. When I saw the new collection Konnichiwa by Basic Grey I knew I wanted to scrap a geisha photo. Unfortunately I have never been to Japan, so the picture is not taken by me. I seem to be in a fussy cutting scrappy phase, 'cause again a lot of this layout is cut from the PP of the collection: the lantarn garland and the branches. The large lantarns are stamped by the Bo Bunny serenity stamp set onto the PP of Basic Grey and then cut out. I got inspired by the beautiful hair decoration of the geisha, so I thought I could make the same garland from pink litte inchies whcih I folded and then attached together with a thread. The pink & red flowers are created from fabric and for an extra Japanses touch I added chopsticks which I had lying in my kitchen drawer ;-). The title is made from alphas which I glued on a piece of acetate, which is glued to the chopstick.
