This is my first attempt at an altered canvas. The adorable picture is of my mom, about age 10 (1940). I first put a coat of acrylic paint on the canvas, let it dry, and inked the edges. Then I decoupaged the papers and photo to adhere them, but decided I really didn't need to do a topcoat. I started using craft glue on the embellies, then figured out it was easier with the hot glue gun! The gold leaves are from an old silk flower I cut up to use the parts separately. The two large button flower centers on the right are earrings I picked up at the thrift store for $1.00. The lace doiley in the left bottom corner is from a yard sale. The lace was in my stash, I stained it with coffee. I can't say I'm 100% thrilled with it, but for a first attempt working with this medium I think I did ok!! And it was a lot of fun! Thanks so much for looking.
