I am SO happy with the way this turned out!! (Modesty is not my strong point today..) :)
This is for the April Scraplift the Person Before you challenge and is a lift from Kellyshoaf's fabulous page 'Majestic Mountains of Yellowstone here: Majestic Mountains in Yellowstone By Kellyshoaf
Also for the Cricut Challenge - the bear, owl (twist!), trees and frame are all cut from my Campout cartridge.

I LOOVED Kelly's page the moment I saw it last Fall. We had just come back from our trip through Yellowstone and I knew I would (someday) lift hers. I really tried to lift just the idea and not the page itself. I wanted to really make it my own and I think I succeeded. (I deliberately didn't look at her page again until I was nearly done!) I LOVED how she did her page with torn paper, paint and embossing and still got a fabulous photo in there. Sadly I don't have an embossing tool (It's on my wishlist) so I had to settle for the old-fashioned way of creating dimension and texture.
Side note: All of the papers here except the green 'camping words' paper were from my scrap pile (another point of pride!)

I know we have a photo or two of the four of us in Yellowstone (mom, dad, DH and me), but I couldn't find it or the ones I found weren't right for the page. So I chose to do this postcard I got at the Visitor's Center at Old Faithful instead. We were there in the Fall anyway so it just made sense to make the page 'Fall-themed'.
I tore up the 'mountains', crumpled them up to give them texture and dimention then painted them lightly with gesso. Used the tree-print paper for the green hills, tucked the camping words paper in (I acutally got that at our Sheridan, WY KOA store!), then layered the oranges, browns and neutrals to build the foreground. That embossed piece is from a 4x6 embossed paper sampler pack.
The bear I misted with glimmer mist because I found the paper I cut him out on was too light. The owl got a little torn, but I'll fix him up with a brown pen.
The journal tag is from a scrapbook kit I got at the Visitor's Center and I wanted to tie some rafia to it, but can you believe it? I did NOT have natural color rafia!?! Had red and pink, no green or brown... Go figure.. So will add that later...
TFL!
