Give a Cheer
This is my dh and my cat Bosley. It looks like Boz is getting a bedtime story, and maybe he is. My ds looked at this and said it looks like the black hole in my heart left by my loss of Boz, that cant be filled by a photo of him. She's probably right, but at the time i didnt want to cover the nice center of the paper ide made by putting the photo on it, although thats what ide intended. So i cut the center out and split it in half. I used embossing powder and shimmer sprays, plus frustration because i worked on the colors for a long time trying to get something that looked reasonable. To make the stitching more noticeable i painted either side with black acrylic. There's some lacing, cuz i always use it. Thanks for looking, I really appreciate it!! The dragonfly is there cuz i like them and bugs seem to suit a masculine theme. The feathers on the right are for Boz. Theres 3 little fish beads below the dragonfly for him also. The rock next to the keyhole is from Iceland, a trip that wouldnt have been possible without my inlaws going too. My mom in law always wanted to go there, and it was a great idea. Its from volcanic rock, lots of outcroppings of that there. The washer underneath is genuinely rusty. Lol funny about the gauze. I worked on it outside some cuz it was so messy. My dh looked at it in disgust when i walked by him holding it up, long , black, wet. I did tell him what it was, but it was fun grossing him out!! We love to mess with each other. The scorpion is a charm my dh got for me in Big Bend Natl Park in west Texas, an amazingly eerie and isolated place. Its a 10 hour drive. That was a great trip too, we went with some friends. Anyway,in California where we were in this pic, they have scorpions. You have to be careful putting on your shoes. One morning after a snowfall dh put on his jeans and got bit by one on his leg. I didnt know much about them and thought, no way can we go up that driveway, its too steep, in case we had to see a dr. Turns out theyre not that poisonous,but it did hurt him. We had no power due to the weight of the snow, and the rarity of it , it took down tons of branches, also blocking the driveway. No power or water for 3 days, we were on a well. Every time it was windy in fact we lost power.
The silver chain on the dragonfly is from my ds. Flower from Paper Studio(hob lob) Asian imitation money there cuz of the history of California. Pearlex metallic powders used, but very little. Alphas from Recollection. Clear and embossing powder and Versamark medium also used. And gesso around the edges, a first, thought it would be more raised.
