I think I'm going to work on it some more tonight. I picked up some foam tape stuff, and going to see how it will look in full shaker mode.
Sadly, I don't have any of my sons hair. When I cut his hair, I put it in an envelope on the entertainment center. Well, we ended up moving, and hubby threw things that were on the entertainment center away that he thought was trash, and, one of those things, was Augi's hair. I was so heartbroken. Hubby felt bad, but told me I should have had it marked with what was in it....so, he does make sense, but still..heart breaking.

well it looks very fun! did you keep a snip of his hair? maybe you could fold the hair into a shaker behind the barbershop door? you said it was vellu? that would be fun!! It's a great idea... run with it. I can't wait to see your finished product!
yes, its true, its not a "true" paper piecing, but alas, I need more paper, and did the cardstock instead.
yes, the pole is blue and red cs too. Even the top of the pole is grey cs. I did think about doing the two toned blocks, but was kinda in a hurry to get this thing together to see how it was going to look.
I do have plans on redoing it. This pretty much was a rough draft, being my first time making my own. Which is why I posted it on here for opinions and ideas.

it's hard to tell withthe scanning....I dont' think this would count at true paper piecing. at least from what I understand about paper piecing the entire image would be made from paper? what if you were to tear/ cut squares of two tones of red to create your bricks? is your pole red and blue cs?
Ijust made this tonight, and i'm looking for some opinions on it. I designed it for the LO of my son's first hair cut that i'm working on.
Red/white cardstock, and i've drew lines to make bricks with a pen. The windows are vellum with white cardstock behind them. Then of course the lil white cardstock sign I hung on the door. The writing was done in red gel pen.
