I use Picasa to organize my photos digitally. Every folder is named like this. Year-Month-Day-Event. For example, the photos I took early this morning at the marathon are labeled 2012-5-5EasterSealsWalk. That way when I need to find digital photos I can just search by the event name.

I also upload my photos after I edit them and sort them by month on Winkflash. When I order them, I order them by the 100's so I always end up having to sort through. I put each event's photos together in the order that they occurred if possible. Once I finish sorting them, they go back in the photo envelope. I write the same date, event info on the front of the envelope and they go into a sterilite container with a handle in the lid so I can tote them around when I need to scrap.

I sorted 200+ Easter photos today. We had a celebration and Easter egg hunt at our house, and we went to visit several different family members. Also, I MAY take too many pictures. I have two full containers and I'm working on a third. LOL
