She was a descendant of the Polish Aristocracy and her ancestors fled to America during the war between Poland and Russia. I am currently trying to find out exactly what war it was and the details. This information was given to me by family. Zofia did something very unusual for her time and married Maryan Kubinski for love. Her family felt she married down but Zofia went on to have a family with her husband. I see in her eyes a certain unshakable strength and wicked sense of humor that I see in my Mother and Sister, both great women. My sister very much resembles lovely Zofia. I wish I had know her or at least could sit down for one conversation. How amazing it would be!
