this is a photo I found recently when I visited an exabition at a China Clay museum sitting at the end of the front row was my grandfather I have got a fern pointing to him on this page I also have other relatives in this picture as well as my dads side my mothers side also worked in the clay pits washing out the clay and then it was put into big dryers to dry to a powder then shipped all over the world, the clay was discovered in the middle of the 1800's and with it brought employment to thousands of men. The clay was shipped to the ports by road first on horse drawn carriages then by trucks and lorries and as they traveled it caused a white dust that covered everything plants, doorways and window ledges ect now a days this is not allowed and all wagons have to be covered so much cleaner enviroment these days so on my layout I have given it a white dusting look on everything with gesso the sign tells you which works these men come from I was thrilled when I found this old pic of my grandfather and recognised him straight away it was taken about 1927/28 thank you for stopping by and taking a look x
