January 30, 2008 - One of Cassie's violin lessons.

All of my photos up to July of 2008 are already printed, so I've been trying to force myself to use what I have, which pretty much means always working with color 4x6's. For anything after that, I edit and print as I plan pages so I have a lot more freedom. Here, however, the color photo was so ugly between the loud sweatshirt Cassie was wearing and the toys/books in the background (her lessons were held in a room used for pre-school during the day), I just had to reprint it in black & white.

I used some of my favorite pp from Scrapperdashery in the UK. This one is printed with text from The Merchant of Venice, and much of it is from Act V, Scene 1 talking about music. The blue and purple is one side, and the tans are the flip side with the same pattern printed on both sides. The violin print pp is from Reminisce, and I sprayed it with Copper, Coffee Shop, and Gold GMs to give it more of the water spotted look of the other pp. IRL it is very sparkly and splotchy, but it didn't show up in this photo very well.

The word Harmony in the title and the journaling box were cut with the Hannah Montana cart on my Cricut. The journaling is popped up on foam tape and says: And bring your music forth into the air. - The Merchant of Venice. The title is pulled from another line in that play: Here will we sit and let the sounds of music / Creep in our ears: soft stillness and the night / Become the touches of sweet harmony.

The two tone flower is Prima; the rest are Recollections. I made the banner by cutting punched scalloped circles in half and freehanding the other shapes, drawing the 'string,' and adding the gems between the flags.

This is for the Monthly Sketch Challenge Week 2, and I did the twist to alter the sketch. Among other things, I flipped it, used one photo instead of two, and moved the title to the bottom.
