I was adopted at birth, and back in 1994 when I was 27 I found my biological family and I had an immediate special bond with my big brother Tommy ever since. We have stayed in touch via phone and Facebook and I have missed him so deeply over the past 18 years. My SIL called me one day out of the blue and askd me if there was anyway I could fly out there for Tommy's 50th surprise birthday. I wasn't going to miss this!

Tommy found out about hi party but was not aware of any of the details or guest list. My SIL told me he was HOUNDING her over & over...

Did you invite Lauri? Did you invite my sister? Is she coming? You did invite her right? And my SIL would say things like "you know we've invited her to things before and she's never come. Yes I invited her but she hasn't RSVP'd & I don't want to put pressure on her because of her hardship. You know she's dealt with all those surgeries and hasn't worked in a couple years. My SIL said he was brutal with the questions, all he kept asking about was if I was coming.

When Tommy arrived at the party I was hiding in the back bedroom for about 10 minutes and I called him on his cell phone and told him "I just wanted to let you know I wishI could be there, but everything is just so financially tight for us right now. I just wanted to wish you a happy birthday and a wonderful night and I'll call you later in the week to hear about your party."

He says, "OK, I'll see you soon" and I asked "What?" and he said "OK I'll see you soon." I could hear people in the background so I played it off like he was talking to somebody next to him. "Tommy, who are you talking to?" I asked. He said "you." I said, "Me I just told you I couldn't make it." He said "Yeah, OK I will see you soon." CLICK!

HE HUNG UP ON ME!!!! So I'm in a back bedroom and I'm thinking did someone tell him? Does he know I'm there? That brat hung up on me! If he knows should I just go out there since the jig is up? Nope, I stayed in the bedroom for another 5-10 minutes. I finally sneak out of the bedroom, down the hall, peek around the corner into the livingroom and I see him just outside the sliding glass door with his back to the livingroom. So I make a beeline through the livingroom, out the door and I'm standing right behind him sticking out my tongue and my middle finger just waiting for him to turn around. 60 people are trying not to laugh or give it away.

Finally some guy behind me yelled "TOMMY!" And my big brother turns around and Yells "What?" as his eyes lock onto mine, his eyes watered a little and he yells "ARE YOU F&*%$#%@! KIDDING ME???" As everyone busts out laughing and he reaches out to hug me I yell at him "I can't believe you hung up on me!"

The look of shock and joy on his face made me instantly loss it and I started balling like a baby!

He pulls me back from the hug and asks if my DH & DD were there, and I told him no. He was looking over my shoulder to see if I was messing with him again. I shook my head and said "No they really aren't here. We couldn't afford for all of us, but I wasn't going to miss this for anything!" I started crying harder and he pulled me in to hug me again and that's when this photo was taken.

Tommy yells out "HEY EVERYONE! This is my little sister who was put up for adoption at birth. I never knew about her until we met 18 years ago and this is the first time I'm seeing her since."

It was an AWESOME moment and one I will never forget. The rest of the party rocked. I got to see my brother sing for the first time, and I met 4 cousins also. And the funny thing about the 4 cousins I met for the first time were all brothers and sisters and they all met each other for the first time that night.

All I know is I won't let that much time get away from us again!

Oh and the reason he hung up on me was because while he was on the phone with me saying OK I'll see you soon ovr and over, he was spinning around looking at the crowd gathered around him thinking I was going to pop out. When I didn't pop out he figured if he hung up on me I'd have to come out. So when I didn't come out he thought "maybe she isn't coming" and started to feel bad he hung up on me. So it was good that I waited another 5-10 minutes letting him sweat it out. That's why he had the reaction he did when he turned around because at that point he didn't think I was coming.

I PULLED OFF THE SURPRISE!
