I want your scraps! Very nice vintage page. I'm glad your lift doesn't have as many pieces as the original. Can't wait to see what Renay does with it next.

Great detective work on the date! What a great layout - love all the gears and related references. Love the story, hope it is on the back or somewhere. Great page!
The heart is such a sweet touch on this many LO. I think those are the coolest letters I have ever seen and I love love love the pps and vintage elements. Fabulous.
love the way you merge many elements into one stunning layout. I love your artistic eye. BTW did you print the 1969 calendar using some program, or find art on the internet?
Wow..great title and pps and loved reading the description. Love you almost breaking your own rules....maybe hosting one too many challenges?? I gotta do a manly layout...it's hard for me but you sure carried it off! This is terrific.
This photo of my husband (in the blue shirt) and his brothers with their paternal grandfather was taken sometime around 1969. Tom is not 100% sure of the year, but I know that the shirt is the same one that he wore for school photos in 1969, so I'm going with the anecdotal evidence and calling it good enough.
When I showed this project to Tom, I told him, "This needs a title. What do you think?" He took one look at it and promptly said, "Gear Heads." Which, when you think about it really is perfect.
A gear head is a person who is into all things motorized. This can be cars, motorcycles, machines, planes, or boats, but specifically relating to the engine and power delivery. Grandpa Gent owned a machine shop, and he passed his love of all things machine, gears, and cars on to all his boys - sons and grandsons alike. Tom enjoys tinkering, even today, on an old Gravely riding lawn tractor that doesn't even run.
I met Grandpa Gent shortly after our younger daughter was born on a road trip we took to Cleveland. He died not long after our visit, so I'm really glad that we made the effort to go and he was able to see that Tom had a nice family.
*********** I had planned to enter this in the Leftovers Layout Challenge, but when I showed it to my friend Sarah (sarahmagnificent) at work, she asked, "how can you use it in the leftovers challenge if you used a fresh sheet of cardstock for the back?" DUH. It's my own challenge and I screwed it up! I felt like an idiot. LOL
Still, it's an acceptable entry for :
Round Robin - Group 5, Week 1 ABC Challenge - Asparagus (color), Boys, Calendar Scrap By Color Challenge - Triadic Boys Boys Boys Challenge
