This is a langur monkey I met on my trip to India in 2011. I had heard stories about the rudeness of the monkeys there, but all of the monkeys that I met were very nice, or at least not rude, and all of them were extremely entertaining to watch. This guy took it to a whole ‘nother level, however. When I first saw him, I could hardly believe my eyes, and I whipped out my camera with ninja speed to get a shot before he moved. It turns out there was no need, because he was quite comfortable chilling right where he was, and I was able to get very close and take a bazillion shots from various angles. I probably could have sat down next to him…maybe. This was actually on the grounds of my hotel. It was a former hunting palace of the local maharaja, now located near a wildlife refuge, and a gang of monkeys roamed the grounds to the perpetual chagrin of the poor hotel staff, but to the great delight of the hotel guests. I spent so much time watching these guys, it really was one of the highlights of the trip.
