This is my second LO featuring Machli, the amazing Queen of the Jungle in the Ranthambore wildlife preserve, whom I had the amazing luck to see when I was in India last year. Though everyone goes there in the hopes of catching a glimpse of a tiger, I didn't get my hopes up as there are only around 30 tigers in a preserve which is over 500 square miles in size. We went on safari twice a day and they spend the first half of each one trying to track down a tiger. During this outing, it seemed like we had been following tiger tracks for hours and we had finally turned around, so I thought that it was it for the day. All of a sudden, we heard the warning sounds that the birds and other animals give when there is a tiger in the area. It seemed like we were speeding through the jungle and all of a sudden, I heard my guide excitedly whisper, "Tiger! Tiger!" And this was the sight before me. I love this photo particularly because it looks like she is looking right at me. You can read more about this particular tiger, who ruled Ranthambore longer than any other known tiger has, in my previous LO, Queen of the Jungle. TFL!
