thanks for all the awesome comments. i still use this system, two years after i put it in place. i also have all of the stamp sets indexed on my Mac, with an image of each set including tags for each icon and the sentiments, and i have the number of the binder where it can be found - then i can replace it to the right place and it will be there the next time i look for it. :) i can go to my Mac and type in any sentiment i want, or icon ("girl" "love" "butterfly" etc.) and it will come up with all the sets that include the sentiment/icon, and that will include the binder where it's stored.

i shorten heavyweight sheet protectors to the height of the stamp sets, and divide them vertically with two staples. each sheet will hold 4 sets of stamps.
