Page for the Rockin' Scrapping Gran's Thread (weekly challenge). The layout was to be done in red, white and blue, photo's any color..random stitching on page, and the theme - When I was Twenty.... My stitching in on the right side, and colors red white and blue...my journaling is about where I was at 20 and where I am today.
By the time I was twenty years old, I was a mother of two children and a third to be born on my 21st birthday. When I was twenty, I expected to be working and helping with with my young hubby's college expenses. at Gorham State Teachers College. That didn't happen! We were younng, and living a hundred miles from our parents in a apartment complex called Redbank. We didn't have much but we had each other, our babies and were in love! Times were hard, and we went without a lot of things that we take for granted today! Only once during that time did my husband have to send me home to “momma' ! It seems like we always had to buy the cheapest brand of food , movie's were a luxury, and we drove an old 36 Dodge named, ”Effie The Atom Eatin' Baby”! When I look back, those were really the “good times”! At that time, I did not give a lot of thought as to where I might be fifty years later! Husband graduated from college and started his first teaching job in Industrial Arts at Erskine Academy in So. China, Maine. From there he started teaching at the new Mount View High School in Thorndike, Maine. This is where he stayed and retired! I did work those years after all of our children started school. We bought a home, where our seven children were raised, and during the time were blessed with 16 grandchildren The house still rings with the sound of their laughter. We are now retired, we have lost our dear grandparents and parents, lost many old friends and classmates and acquired new! Our hair is a different color and neither my husband or I have quite as much hair as we did at twenty. Through sickness and health, I am right where I want to be today and ejoying life!
