Our First Family Vacation! Some friends in Arizona invited us to visit Tucson and stay with them. We made plans and got airline tickets for March 21-30, 2006. It would be Josh and my first time flying and our first official vacation as a family!

Tuesday, March 21, 2006 – Mike and I got up at 4:00am and showered. We did the last of our packing and got Josh up around 4:45am. We gave him breakfast and got him dressed. Mike's parents showed up around 5:00am to give us a ride to the airport.

We arrived at Flint Bishop Airport around 5:40am. We checked our bags and went through the security check. We waited for it to be time to board our plane.

We boarded the plane around 6:45am. We were scheduled to take off at 7:08am. It was snowing so they de-iced the plane. Our takeoff was delayed because Chicago (where we were flying in to) had too much air traffic. We ended up taking off at around 7:40am. I did not like the feeling of taking off and Josh didn’t either. He wouldn’t nurse and pretty much freaked out. The flight itself wasn’t bad. Landing was a little better than takeoff, and Josh didn’t seem to mind it much. We landed in Chicago around 7:40am.

Because we were later than expected, we had to hurry to our next terminal. We didn’t even have time to change Josh’s diaper. We grabbed a quick snack and then it was time to board the next plane. I was pretty nervous about takeoff because the first one was so rough. Luckily it wasn’t bad at all on the bigger plane we took from Chicago to Dallas. The airline moved us to the first row of coach seats because there was more room for an infant without a seat. We took off around 8:30am. Josh was very good on that plane and didn’t nap at all. We landed in Dallas around 10:45am. We changed Josh's diaper, took the Skylink to our terminal, found a McDonalds to have lunch at, and waited for our next flight.

We boarded the Dallas to Tucson plane and Josh fell asleep nursing before we took off around 1pm. Josh slept almost the whole flight. We landed in Tucson at around 2:30pm. We picked up our luggage and got the keys to our rental car. We loaded up and headed to the Paulsons’ house.
