Our first stop was supposed to be a fish market but it was flooded and our tour guide said it was really stinky; we all decided we didn’t want to wade through stinky ankle-deep mud so we scratched that off our list. Next we went to a small port where ships were loaded by hand. We watched the manually load hundreds of bags of concrete. We could not believe how backwards the process was – every bag was loaded and unloaded on the backs of the laborers.

We were supposed to take a water taxi around on a short trip from the port but the water was so polluted that most of us had no interest in going. Also the smell from the polluted water was also a deterrent – most of us went back to the bus early because of the smell of the garbage in the water – only two or three in our group went on the boat ride.

Next we were supposed to climb to the top of the watchtower, but when we saw it no one wanted to get off the bus. It was no taller than a 3-story building and very weathered and uncared for – just an older concrete building with flaking and peeling paint. Not worth getting off the bus for.
