Another layout for my darling nephew's baby book.

I've been cleaning up my scrap room - sorting and organizing and getting a lot of stuff ready to go to Good Will. The stripe paper was one of those Good Will items. It is NOT one of my typical vintage style paper choices. It's a paper that my younger daughter bought for herself a long time ago and then left when she moved out.

But as I was sorting ANOTHER pile of stuff, I ran across this owl paper scrap and, I thought about that stripe, went to the GW box and dug a bit, and sure enough - those two pieces of paper just belong together! I stacked them and thought, "Ok, I'll do something with that..."

Ran across the gelly word in another package of "not my style, so maybe the scrap swap box...except, I wonder if that word would work with..." and yep. It did. That ended up on the pile of "I'll do something with that too..."

All that was left was to figure out WHAT to do. It was just a matter of finding the base cardstock, digging around in my scrap paper box to find a couple of papers for photo mats, adding a few little buttons, and it was DONE. It's fast and simple, but the owl paper was really all the embellishment that it needed. I felt kind of bad about how fast it went together - since it's a GIFT - so I applied some glossy accents to the owl's eyeballs and a bit of stickles to his chest feathers.

This book is going together really quickly, since my SIL is doing all the photographic work and all I have to do is pick my favorite photos for the time frame. This page features his first two baby teeth, and there is plenty of space below the photos for my SIL to do a little bit of journaling

I used a Julie Bonner sketch for this layout.
