This is a photo of my mother (left side) and her cousin, Dorothy taken in 1921. I think their mothers, my grandmother and her sister-in-law, must have competed in dressing their "fairy belles". My mother never liked Dorothy and it didn't help when Dorothy broke the bisque head of my mother's Bye Lo baby doll. When they grew up, my mother always referred to Dorothy as "the princess."
