We left the Victorian Market and walked a short way to McDonalds. We weren't hungry but it was afternoon so we decided to keep some sense of an eating schedule. We split a fish sandwich, fries and Coke and enjoyed the free internet offered at McDonalds.

Then the stop I was looking for – we caught a tram to the zoo! What fun we had! We walked for hours and took so many pictures! I took 102 and Bill took 346 pictures. That is a new record for him for one day. He's very talented at getting good animal pictures, and he is especially good at taking close-ups of animal faces. When we got married he had no interest in the camera and now we both carry one whenever we travel – he gets some shots better and others come out better on my camera. Most of our best animal pictures came from his camera.

It actually closed while we were at the farthest point from the gates so when we finally got out all of the other “guests” were gone and nearly all the employees had left for the day. After final announcements had been made that it was closed we passed the koalas 3 more times trying to find our way out but were walking in circles. We found an employee on a golf cart who gave us directions, but somehow we ended up passing by the koalas again, still lost.

All of the exits had been locked for the night so we had to find the main gate. It was very embarrassing when we ran across the same golf cart and same employee 10 or 15 minutes later near the same spot in front of the koalas and had to ask for directions to get out again.
