I also love the pops of green against the black bg. Very pretty -- love the addition of the invite. Also love that you got in a bidding war -- I'm known to do that.
I think this is a great LO-so the pic has a glare, you've demonstrated it's still "scrap-worthy" and I luv the fact that you added the invitation to the front of your page & made a pocket 2 hold the program. Excellent job w/sketch #8! : ]
Great idea with the pocket thing. I totally understand the whole "glad to be done with black tie" business. Some things you gotta do just because you gotta do them, but it doesn't mean you gotta LIKE them! Bravo for you skipping the last two and just paying out. LOL
What a wonderful book to purchase. Love how you put all the keepsakes from the program, etc. and I agree that it wouldn't have been complete without a personal photo and love the one with the dress. Great page
I really like how you incorporated the pocket and the stretch of lace. Ditto with regards to the colour scheme - the green with the black & white is fantastic
This is my last one of these ever! Yay. This is about the annual black tie fundraiser for dd's elementary/middle school - this one is 2008. I've already done 2009, and we didn't go in 2010 or 2011 - just made donations. Seven of them was enough. Anyway, I didn't take any pictures at this one for some reason. I recall I was pretty cranky that night, lol. But, I have this dopey pic I took in the mirror at home of my dress. There's a glare on the pic, sorry. I tried to cover most of the mess you can see with me in the reflection - this was only a few days after Cassie's birthday, and half her presents are still strewn about the room behind me.
The largest piece of pp forms a pocket for the program (Cassie was one of the kids on the cover), which I cut apart so as to only keep the relevant pages - schedule, letters from school board president & chaplain, menu, pics of the kids, and info on the auction item I bid on and also the one Cassie's class made. I punched a hole in these pages and tied them together with a ribbon. The pocket is machine sewn with a mix of straight and zigzag stitches. I put a strip of lace ribbon along the top.
I started with the September Monthly Sketch Challenge 30-day Sketch-a-thon Day 8 sketch. I had to add another place for journaling. I also moved the title and spread the embellies out. Not my favorite page ever, but one that I'm happy to have DONE.
The journaling says: We ended up going to the Gala at the last minute this year. I bought a dress and had my nails done that morning. The only thing I had to have was the hardbound Letters to God - Cassie talked about Great Grandpa and Johnny in Heaven in her letter. I was in a bidding war with the Molloys in the live auction, but I won it for $800.00.
