wonderful photo & LO! love your maid of honour flower & so great that you have so much about your family's history and are able to record & preserve it for future generations.
Wonderful photo...you have framed it beautifully with the lovely flowers; the chair with the cat is an adorable touch, especially with the yarn ball under the chair! The use of mostly neutral colours is superb with the photo!
A very lovely composition!!! The chair and rug really balance out the design perfectly, as they so compliment the color and design on the left side of the photo! Beautifully done, and a wonderful photo! Good luck on your continuing work on the family album....it always takes a lot of time and love!!
Hello Friends! Hope everyone is doing well. I've been continuing my quest on completing my dh's family heritage album. This is the next page. This is dh's grandmother Martha (Erickson) Knudtson's family. Dh's first cousin is the family historian and has graciously given us copies of all the photos she has collected. This photo is the only one that is known to exist of their great-grandfather, Hans Petter, so she was very excited to share this with us. By way of background, this photo was taken on April 22, 1914 and is believed to have been taken because of the possibility the boys were drafted to WWI. This photo has a family of 10, but there were two children that were born in Norway but died as well as two more children born in the US but passed on prior to this photo being taken. There would have been a total of 12 children had they all survived. In the back row, l to r, Hjalmer, Carl (nicknamed "Bo" because he like to hang out near the hobos camped near the tire plant in Eau Claire), George, Edward ("nickname "Casey"), and Hans. In the front row, l to r, Martha (DH's grandmother), Hans Petter (father), William, Christine (a/k/a Emilie and mother) and Jennie. Carl and George never married. William was killed in a car accident in his mid 20s. Jennie died of breast cancer in her 30s; she never had any children. This family history is tucked into the layout behind the blue/green paper which mats the photo. I struggled a bit with this design....things weren't clicking as they normally do, but I am satisfied with the end result. I'm not certain if felines were part of their family, but I couldn't resist bringing a part of our present life story into this family page. The chair is from the Heritage Cricut cartridge (LOVE THAT CARTRIDGE). I made the "rug" out of a piece of quilting material...simply frayed the ends. The "ball of yarn" is made with needlepoint yarn given to me by dh's aunt. The large flower is from a bouquet of flowers I held as the Maid of Honor in a wedding back in 1993. The smaller flowers I made by using paper flowers from Michaels. They are glued together and Stickles was used to give the glitter appearance. Thanks you so much for your interest in this layout and my dh's family history. I so appreciate your time in stopping by! HUGS!
