I see this picture every day as I sit at my computer both at work and at home. For me it renews my spirits because although it is something I have not seen in person, it represents a life I imagine I might have when my daughter is gone and I’ve made some money of my own. But the peculiar thing is it also represents some other things that make me a little bit sad. It also represents the life I wish I was brave enough to take my daughter and go live right now, and it represents the life I wish my husband wanted also. Even so it renews me time after time each and every day because this photograph of a colorful life on the islands represents to me the fact that every day I have a choice. If I choose to stay where I’m at, I have to love that choice as much as I love this picture. I have a feeling that some day I will have this life on the islands I dream of (probably for only a short time) and my spirit will be renewed. I also have a feeling that when I’m there, I’ll put a picture of my home now on my laptop, and it will renew me in the same way! Until that time, every day I am renewed, lifted and rejuvenated by the vivid colors of the boat, the sparkling blue of the sky and sea and the wonderful texture of the sand…it pulls me to it and in the process helps lift me while I’m here.
