Journaling:Where do I start... I get a call from school that you are up in the office. You had a wad of gum in the back of your hair and it is hurting. You have very long hair and I have never had to get gum out of hair before. So I called our friend Nikki to ask her advice on how to get it out. She said the best way was with peanut butter. YUCK!!!! I can’t even stand the smell of peanut butter, so Nikki offered to help.

So off I went to pick you up. I just couldn’t wait to hear what happened. I was questioning you if front of your teacher and all you would say is that you were lying down and it got stuck in your hair. You had your hair down that day and the gum was up underneath in the back, so I knew you weren’t telling me the whole story. Once I got you in the car though you started to fess up. Your friend brought you in a piece of gum and you went in the bathroom to chew it. Instead of throwing it away you wanted to save it like the girl in Charlie and the Chocolate factory (Violet Beauregarde). The only problem was that Violet used to keep her gum behind her ear, not in her hair!

Thank goodness for Nikki’s patience, because it took a lot of work to get that gum out of your hair. Luckily she did it with very little hair loss. Boy, that smell of the mint gum and the peanut butter was just turning my stomach. I know it hurt you so bad because you had you head buried in my lap and you were quietly crying. But you didn’t dare complain, you knew you were in big trouble and had made a very big mistake! I decided that the pain you went through to get the gum out was punishment enough. I am sure you learned your lesson the hard way.
