Such a beautiful work of heart, Patty - I love that photo of your grandmother - she was so lovely. Women DID know how to dress then. Sometimes it would be nice if we still did... sometimes.... Such a beautiful page - Love it and and story behind it!
Goregous LO. Love all the memorabilia with the pics of the ladies all dressed up. Makes me think of my MIL's photos. Never seen without hat and stockings. TFS
Patty, the layout is great. Beautiful handmade flowers and accents. Your Grandmother was beautiful and formal and....she still has a smile on her face! I see the resemblance in you!
A fabulously creative page of oldtime elegance. The shoe ,flowers and photo are simply beautiful. My Nan would have added a handkercheif to your amazing list. Well done, love it.
Oh my goodness, Patty! She is just gorgeous, and so is her outfit. I am with you, I would love to live in those times - always dreamed about it as a little girl! Thank you for taking me back there today!
She looks so beautiful!! It was such a different time wasn't it? I feel the way you do sometimes, but most of the time I'm really attached to my jeans. LOL!! Your page is just stunning. So much finery to look at too!!
So beautiful Patty!! Loved reading the story behind this so very elegant composition, and love that photo of your Grandmother!! The check list you made up is wonderful, and I Love those flowers you made!!! Such a favorite for me!!
This layout is so beautiful, but I have to say, that I enjoyed reading the story behind it. I too sometimes wish things were not so "casual" today. I love looking at the heritage pictures of people all dressed up just to maybe take a trip on the train. Makes me nostalgic.
I'd definitely pick that time frame than the one we are in!! Your Grandmother looks so elegantly put together..very beautiful lady!! Love the pps and your fabulous flowers and all the rest of the lovely embellies! A very lovely and outstanding page!!
Oh yes.... The style was much more formal back then. These old photos always leave me wondering was life was like during those times. Beautiful old photo & gorgeous design with the fab G45 pp's! Fabulous heritage work Patty!!!
I'm first? It is always a treat to stop by and see your creations. What a sentimental page~ Yes...times have changed! So often I see adults dressed as if they were going to the park instead of work! lol~ What nice details. You made the flowers from gathered ribbon? Elegant. I really like what you did to the shoe. Beautiful penmanship, too. xox
It was difficult to not think of my maternal grandmother while working on this layout for The Crafty Scrapper Design Team. The Ladies' Diary Collection by Graphic 45 is a perfect choice for a lovely photo of Granny, and to tell her story. She was born late in the nineteenth century and our culture was very different. Sometimes I wish that we could go back to those times when there was more of a sense of formality. At the top of the layout is a little tab that is attached to a hidden file folder which can be pulled out for the story about Granny, and how she would never leave her home without being "presentable". She would never be caught wearing slacks and didn't own a pair of jeans. She had beautiful suits and matching hats for Sundays, and she was lovely to gaze at in all her finery.
Techniques used on this layout include inking, sewing, three dimensional work, interactive work, stamping, painting, fussy cutting and layering. In the photo above, can be seen a flower that I made by gathering a ribbon along one side and created the center by using black beads from my stash and Glossy Accents. For the shoe, I painted it black, then covered with Glossy Accents. To decorate the shoe, I punched a hole with a 1/4" hole punch, painted it black, covered it with Glossy Accents, then added beads and added another layer of Glossy Accents.
I always appreciate your kind comments in my gallery and look forward to seeing what you have been creating. For more photos of my three dimensional work on this LO, please go to my blog:
