These photos were taken in early January 2006. Beijing is in the northern hemisphere, and I have heard it's weather is comparable with New York, but I grew up in New York State, and Beijing seemed much colder. Maybe it was because we had to use public transportation a lot, and that put us outdoors for longer periods of time, so we really felt the cold. The Chinese are very hardy and don't seem to curtail their activity because of the winter weather. I never walked so much as I did in Beijing.
The photos are beautiful (as always). I'm not sure if you want me to critique this or comment on it.
I think the colors are beautiful and they're very peaceful, much like the photos. I think the blues really tie in with the winter scene, perhaps too much. I think that if you had a touch of white in your layout it might lighten it up quite a bit. I wish there were stitching on the second page of your layout to tie the two together a bit more. You have pieced paper on the left hand, but not on the right. I like the clips you have on your layout, however I agree with Leanne's suggestion. I think that by putting the two clips so close together that you limit the focus of the eye to just that one page. I think that by taking the clip away from the page of you and moving it to the larger photo (like Leanne suggestion) it would create anchors for the eyes. It would force them to move left then right and subconsciously link the two pages together. I think the marble paper on the right almost takes away attention from the beautiful photo. I think the texture of the marble and the ripples in the water are so similar at first glance that the photo blends in with the paper. I think that if you matted the photo with a stronger color (or a paper not patterned) it would allow your photo to stand out more. I don't think you need the shells as embellishments for your photo title of South Lake Island. I think that if you just added the month and year it would be decorative enough. I would like to know what time of year these photos were taken as the seasons of the US often don't occur at the same time as seasons in other countries.
My first thought is to add the zig zag stitching to the top of bottom blue text box on the right page, so both sides have some. Also, as there is no other empty space to balance it, I would add a square picture or block with an embellishment or more journaling directly above the small picture of you on the striped paper. I would leave an empty space on the striped paper above it, equal to the amount of space the pic of you extends below the bottom of the striped paper. I would also add another swirly thing to the top right corner of the pic on the right page. Then I would move the swirly thing from the top left corner of the pic of you to the bottom left corner of the pic on the right. (So there would be a swirly on the top right and bottom left corner of the large pic.)
Again, I really like your pics. They are all very beautiful. This looks like a very nice place to visit. I hope you don't mind my sharing all my ideas. Your work is wonderful!

The Summer Palace covers 2.5 kilometers from east to west, and has been listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List since 1998. It is actually a museum of Chinese Garden Collections, arranged in a park around Kunming Lake. It is 1 of China’s greatest treasures, and deserves to be seen many times to ensure that you can fully appreciate all parts of this magnificent park.
