I think it's sweet that you included if you were Chinese you would pick them as your family. :) I'm sure that would please them. I noticed that you repeated the information about your money dilema in this layout. Are you writing each layout as if someone was only going to read one. or are they meant to be gone through all together? If you intend them to be all together, I would sugegest maybe removing the explanation of the money troubles on one layout and using that space to write about more details the readers would like to hear about. This is beautiful. I can almost see the individual personalities in their faces. That is what I like most about this picture. Thank you for sharing this!
I love your choice of colors! Tho' it is a departure from the red and gold scheme, the black still ties everything in. The title is perfect! Perhaps just align the "Yang" --the N seems to be a bit higher than the rest. Also, I see a small white strip on top of your journaling, if you can just blacken it too.
My hosts in Beijing China Yang A Gracious Family I could not have gone to China without the help of the Yang family. They were all gracious to me every day. They took me to places I could not have gone without them. They were my guides and interpreters. They even loaned me money when I was not able to exchange my American Express travelers checques for the first 4 days I was there, because the banks were busy doing year end processing. Yin Xiulan - Mrs. Yang - did not speak English, but she was a great hostess and even took me up the Great Wall. Kejian - Mr. Yang - translated a poem for me and gave me a new name in Chinese. My name is He Jen Hui, which means Peace, Truth and Wisdom. Kejian and Xiulan took me to No Name Lake, on the Beijing University campus, a frozen pond where people were celebrating the New Year by ice skating.
Lily is my dear friend that I met at NC State, and I informally ‘adopted' her, and we referred to me as her American mother. She returned the favor by taking me home to meet her family. I have never received a more wonderful gift from another human being, and I love her for it all the more. Even if she had not taken me to China, I would love her because she is so terrific.
Ruiping is Lily's younger brother. He speaks very good English, but he had never spoken with an American before me. He spoke slowly and carefully to me, and took me for some adventures. Crossing the street with Ruiping was an adventure I could forego. I refused to cross the street with him until he held my hand.
Lily is an operations analyst. Ruiping is an urban planner. Kejian and Xiulan retired from the Chinese Academy of Science. Kejian is active as a cryongenics consultant and Xiulan is an artist, a practitioner of Buyi, Chinese textile art.
I love the Yangs. If I was Chinese, I would pick them as my family.
