What a sweet layout and beautiful dress...you are definitely a multi-talented woman!! The only idea I had was that if you had a scrap of the material that you made the dress out of, maybe you could use that as a ribbon or a matting someplace. But this is a beautiful layout and I certainly wouldn't change much if you change anything at all!!
Oh wow, Ilene you are SO talented. I would look at that dress pattern and run screaming. It's especially cool that you wanted to do this for your daughter since you didn't have a lot of experiences like this in your childhood. I love the colors you used in this layout and the way they coordinated with the dress and the pattern. We all know I'm an afficionado of the simple style and that's not always best... if I were doing it over again I would probably take off several of the stickers on the left by the pattern (especially the one with the baby doll), as they seem to distract a little from the pattern... but I sure wouldn't go back and change things now. I love the title font and the doodly flowers under it. They are so in right now! Funny how things swing back and forth like that. Thanks for sharing this sweet layout!

This is a really sweet layout! I thought it was a digital layout until you mentioned the Fiskars in your description. I don't think it looks that childish. I think that you managed to catch the vintage essence of the pattern cover.
This layout is so beautiful! The dress you made for your granddaughter is amazing! I'm sure she absolutely loved wearing it! I really like that you added the picture from the pattern, that is a really nice touch. Your title work is very cute, you did a great job!
Very nice purple/green color combo. Everything matches so well with the picture! I would agree that the basket and the butterfly are a bit brighter than the rest of the lo. Sometimes I lightly sandpaper things that are a little bright, and add a dusting of white chalk. The is a beautiful layout. I can't believe you'd only been scrapping for 6 months!
I LOVE that you included a copy of the patterned envelope on the lo! :) Really great idea. Way to go on taking up such a difficult project too! The dress looks beautiful, and I know she will cherish it. I love giving and receiving gifts that I know someone made themselves because I know that it means that I mean enough to them (or they mean enough to me), that they would take the time and put forth the effort to make something uniquely for me. Those gifts mean so much more to me.
I too like to look at older sb pages and see how I have changed as a scrapper. So don't feel like you need to change this lo, but for future los, be carefull not to use colors or embellies that draw attention to themselves and away from the focal points. The orange, pink, and yellow in the stickers are much bolder than the purple, green, and blue throughout the lo, so that is what I see first. Then only afterwards do I notice the pic and the pattern envelope.
Very sweet layout. I'm glad you have a pic of the dress to remember all the love that went into it!
Nice vintage feel...love how you used the packaging for the dress and incorporated it into the story. (wonderful job on the dress as well!!!!) You did a great job of using stickers and die cuts to create a LO. Creative use of stickers for borders. The Purple ribbon at the bottom does a great job of grounding the LO. Nice Job!
aww this is so cute! I love all the embellies! The only thing I notice is the different color of the orange butterfly and the basket? If you can recolor it to match the checkered (lavender, green and pink) pp, I think it'll better match the other items. On the other hand, I think the easter basket is a little cramped up, since you have easter eggs in the borders, perhaps you can just omit this embellie. Anyway, this page looks so feminine and beautiful! I love the pic of your grandd
Daisy Kingdon *** The fabric for this Daisy Kingdom dress was only available at the brand new Joanne’s Fabric Store at Cary Crossroads, which had not yet opened. Ilene’s patience was stretched when the store opening was delayed by several days. She became so desperate to start work on the dress that she waited in the parking lot, talking to the District Manager on her cell phone, while the City Inspector went through the store. When it was finally done, it was late in the evening. The manager opened the door, so Ilene was the first person to shop in that store. *** Leah is hunting for eggs amongst the viburnum. When she got around to the back side of the viburnum, we found that the baptisia was in bloom. It was the first time we had seen baptisia except in catalogs. It was so beautiful with its pearly white blossoms clustered high on the strong stems, blowing gracefully in the breeze. That was the only time we saw the baptisia in bloom. *** Grandma loves me and I love Grandma *** Authors comments on layout: *** I created this page when I had been scrapbooking only about 6 months, so my techniques were still developing, and some seem immature to me now, but overall I am proud of the layout and think it was a good display of rapidly developing talent. *** Some things I really liked about the layout: I copied the pattern envelope and displayed it on the left page, with my granddaughter in the dress on the right page. I used decorative blades in my FISKARS cutter, and cut the green chain borders. They were hard to work with, but created a nice effect. I used CREATING KEEPSAKES software to write the titles - a small challenge that taught me to use the software. *** Making the dress was challenging. It looks like something you would see in a Disney movie. I had to use very specific fabrics and complicated techniques. I am really happy that I got to make something so unique for my granddaughter. *** It was a shame that she outgrew it so soon, so I scrapbooked it to remember what pleasure that dress brought us. My granddaughter has put that dress, and several others that I made for her, away so that it can be worn by future generations. It is possible that the dress will outlive me. I am really proud that I was able to create such a beautiful legacy for my family. *** It is so important to believe in yourself, and with this dress, I was able to show the little one how special she is to me. *** I wish every little girl could be loved this way. ***
