Definitely include the journaling. I really like the black, orange, and yellow together, but I have to admit that I notice it more than the pics becuase they are bright and most of the pics are quite dark. The stained glass is beautiful, and I don't think you could lighten the pics of the stained glass and still get the effect you want. So I'm not sure how to make the pics stand out more than the mats. I think I would lighten the pic of Larry at his desk and the picture of the outside of the church in the bottom right corner if you could though. I love the line of brads, and for future reference (since there isn't room to do it here on this lo) I would use some brads on the opposite page too to create a more cohesive feel.
I think you should as well. These pages are beautiful, but I think the most important thing in this series should be the journaling. The photos on all four layouts are amazing, but I think the journaling adds depth to these layouts and should be shared.
Thank you Kim for that advice to type up this journaling and put it in the scrapbook. I had not thought of these connections until I was working on the description, for this and the ordination page. Did you read the ordination? The journaling on the two goes together perfectly.
this layout was done when I was not yet into journaling, but I think I should add it as Kim recommended.
Beautiful, Ilene -- if the journlaing you've shared above isn't "hidden" away somewhere on this LO, it really needs to be. Seriously. You are blessed to have been given such a remarkable man as Larry for your husband and Larry has been blessed to have such a strong supporter and encourager for his wife. GOD truly chose the two of you to be together and that comes across in your LOs.
I realize this is one of your early paper LOs, but I think it's lovely just as it is. Your journaling (above) could even just be typed up and taped to the back of the page...

You may be able to tell that this is one of my earlier paper layouts. There is very little journaling. These photos were all taken at the church where my husband serves as Associate Pastor. He took the steeple photo from his office window, and I put a sticker on it that seemed just perfect to me. The arched stained glass window is from our original church. It was salvaged and moved to the new santuary when it was built in 1967, and is now in the chapel. Our sanctuary has modern Willette Hauser faceted glass windows. Photos of those windows are scattered throughout this layout. My husband also took those photos. Those photos have been used on publications. My husband began this career in his fifties, but you could not guess it from looking at his pictures because in his heart, he is still a boy. *** God loves him and so do I *** This was Larry's first call, and we hope it will be his last, as we hope he will serve there until retiring. This is the church that both of us wanted him to be called to. It is the only one he could have served in with my disability, and still be a good husband to me. It is a miracle that he got called to this church, and we both count that as yet another sign that God has called Larry into the ministry.
Larry's father died just weeks after he began his ministry at Holy Trinity. The funeral was held in Upstate NY, in the church where Larry served as an altar boy. The priest invited Larry to preach the homily and to preside at communion. So the first time that his father saw him lead worship was when he was in heaven. And the first funeral service Larry ever performed was for his father.
What a way to start your ministry.
His father would have liked to see Larry as a pastor. I can only imagine the rush of words he will say to his son when Larry gets to heaven.
