Those are great photo's. Great job of pulling the colors together. Only thing I can see is that the center drop-shadow and bevels on the photo's are throwing the balance off. You can use a straight border with no bevel or drop-shadow and still get the separation. This LO lends itself to 2D really well. You should take advantage of that.
This is simply gorgeous! Those pictures are so beautiful, and I really love how you pulled the colors straight from them for your layout. I think the tile and rain effect you did really softenes up the background and gives it texture and interest. I like the suggestions from Angie, can't wait to see the finished layout! Great job!
I really like this! I like the simplicity of the page. I think the rain effect on the yellow layer gives it a bit of texture, but I didn't know what it was until you mentioned it. I love things like that. I like the idea of arranging the photos so that the lighter of the three photos is in the center.
Really spectacular! I love the colors and the simplicity of this layout -- and you're right, the photos (and their subject) are gorgeous. Will it be printed or just stay in digi form? I am always how something will break if I'm printing on a 12x12 page, but I love the freedom you get by using all ths space. I love the way the colors reflect the colors of the photo and the look of the green "tile" border around your center paper. Flipping the photo on the right seems like a good solution to moving the photos around. Sorry you have to start over! Seems like computers just give us new ways to invent work sometimes, doesn't it?
I have decided to implement Angie's suggestion: to bring the kiss to the center of the layout, to flip the centered profile horizontally and move it down to the right, so that the two profiles face the center where she is blowing the kiss. I'm in the process of doing that now, and have discovered a major blooper in hos I did the original layout, so I have to reconstruct it. My objective was to get it on the forum, and forgot to save a fully layered copy, so I have to start from scratch. Lesson learned. I hope.
wow! I think angie said it all! I love these precious photos of Leah! And I love that you used the colors from the pics to make your mats and pps. I love angie's suggestions too! How about changing your title to "kissed by the sun" or "pretty as a picture" and transfer the easter 2006 to the bottom right of the pictures (just move the other pics up a bit)? I think it will give more interest to have a more specific title.
Incredibel pics! I really love your color choices based on the pics. I also really like the mosaic tile effect. Since you want to keep it very simple, then I won't suggest adding to it. =) But since this is digi and you can play with it a bit, I might try rearranging your pics, putting the two profile shots on the sides and the full face shot in the center. This would separate your pics with flowers, which might balance the lo a little better. Then I think I would also try flipping the right profile pic so that it looks like she is looking to the left (with the flowers on the left side) instead of the right. THat would give the effect of both profile pics looking at or drawing attention to the center, making your center pic more of a focal point. I know that reversing the image makes it so it is not the true image, making it appear that it is the left side of her face instead of the right. But if that doesn't matter to you then it might be a fun way to play with your pics for a different effect. :) I think the lo is very effective as is, but I just thought I'd make some suggestions that might give a different perspective. I think trying to see things from various perspectives strengthens us and makes us better at whatever we do.
I used Photoshop Elements 2.0 to produce this layout. I used the color selector to pick up the color of the roses for the background paper, then the green from Leah's shirt for one mat, and the green from the rose foliage to make the other mat. I put the rain layer style on the yellow paper, and the mosaic tile on the dark green paper. I picked up the color of the necklace for the text, and made that into teal plastic. I deliberately kept this layout simple to bring the attention to the nearly perfect photos.
