Love that place, hang out down there quite a bit. The ghost tours are so fun. I've scrapbooked so many pages of the gum wall, ghost tours and the market. It's a fun theme to scrap!
Not one of our proudest moments in touring, but the Underground Tour sheds a little light on the city I never knew I didn't want to know! ;) LOVE the bright colors and paper you used!
We visited the Seattle Gum Wall near Pike's Market with Jeff and Natalie, our good friends from Hawaii who were going on the cruise with us to Alaska the next day.
The Market Theater Gum Wall is a local landmark in downtown Seattle under Pike Place Market. The Market Theater Gum Wall is a brick alleyway wall now covered in used chewing gum. Parts of the wall are covered in chewed gum several inches thick, 15 feet high and 50 feet wide.
The wall is by the box office for the Market Theater, and the tradition began around 1993 when theater patrons stuck gum to the wall and placed coins in the gum blobs. Theater workers scraped the gum away twice, but eventually gave up in 1999 and just let the gum stay stuck.
The Seattle gum wall was named one of the top 5 germiest tourist attractions in 2009, second to the Blarney Stone. It is the location of the start of a ghost tour, and it is a popular site with wedding photographers.
A scene for the 2009 Jennifer Aniston film Love Happens was shot at the wall.
