I designed this quilt using an alternative piecing of the traditional Hen & Chick block so the colors fade in / out on the diagonal and using fabrics with wizards, stars, etc. I quilted each diagonal with a different motif: Blues are all a wizard (Dumbledore), the lights: Owl, witch on broom, scaredy cat; moon & star, etc. I then quilted names of characters from the Harry Potter series books, alternating "good" and "bad" using freehand cursive. I have made 4 of these quilts which also feature the Hogwarts house names embroidered on each corner in their main color. I designed a label with the castle and elements from the books. The four boys that received these quilts still cherish them. One is now a Sophomore, hoping to be a pharmacist one day and he took it to college with him.
