I like how you have the brochure included on this page. I still can't believe the injuries your husband got. That's amazing and I can certainly understand his mother's feelings!
Rivington Castle was built by the Late Lord Leverhulme who wanted it to replicate the origional Liverpool Castle which was destroyed after the Civil War (1642-50). Work was started on the Castle in 1912 but after Leverhulmes death in 1925 all work ceased. It was however as he wanted. He wanted it to be a ruin not a castle. As children we would play for many hours in the grounds, its locally known as The Black Princes Castle. As a child my husband fell from the top ( the second picture on the right )breaking his pelvis, both ankles his wrist and a leg. Needless to say his Mother wasn't very pleased as he had three months in hospital.
