Give a Cheer
My dd was in 9 dances in her recital in 2011. This is her jazz portrait. Of the nine, I only really like three, two are 'okay,' and two are terrible. The other two are not bad photos, but her expressions don't fit the dances so I don't really like them. This is one of the ones that I really like. They danced to DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love by Usher. You can see the LO's I've completed for her other 2011 dances and earlier years in my Dance LO's Album in my gallery. All her professional dance portraits have been taken by Cass Photography.
The colors didn't photograph quite true in this LO - blue always wigs out my camera. The bg is a beautiful shade of turquoise that matches my dd's costume, and the snakeskin is a little bit greener.
This is for:
1) March Monthly Sketch Challenge Week 1 with the twist to use something soft on the LO. I have a piece of black net fabric that has a similar pattern to the net of Cassie's costume sleeves, metallic ricrak ribbon, a silk flower with fuzzy fibers in the center, and an organza ribbon flower.
2) Girls and Boys Challenge - This is my #2 Girl LO.
I always try to match the LO's I do for my dd's dances to the costume and the song. For this one, I splattered black paint on the grungy, urban bg pp and used a piece of sparkly snakeskin pp - her costume has a metallic, reptillian print on it and the hiphop style sleeves and pants. I used a CD for the circle behind the pic to go with the DJ theme. I couldn't resist feminining it up a bit with the flowers.
