All these photos are of my cat, CC Web when she was a kitten. She is no longer with me. She died of a cancer in the mid 90's but she is still the center of many fond rememberances between my mom and me.

How Webb got her name

Webb came to live with me on the evening Mom and I returned from Jonesboro, TN. We had attended the National Storytelling Association conference. It was dusk when we got to my Mom's house and standing in the middle of the driveway was this little bedraggled fluff of black fur with the biggest eyes I had ever seen. The only thing bigger was her LUNGS! She was yelling her head off and so Mom and I took her into the house and gave her some bread soaked in a little bit of milk. The kitten, she was still unnamed at that point, leaped into the middle of the plate and began to eat as though she hadn't had food in years!

I told Mom that I would love to keep her but I would need a sign. Be careful what you ask for!

The next day, I took her to the local vet, and Dr. Midyette pronounced her healthy except she needed regular meals. He told me he was having a two for one sale on vaccines and the local Wal-Mart was having a two for one sale on all cat supplies. There was my sign!

I loaded up the kitten, took her home with me to my apartment in Raleigh, NC. When she got out of the carrier, she immediately disappeared underneath all the furniture and came out covered in cobwebs. I figured she had just named herself and told her that as long as she kept up the dusting, she had a home for life. And that's how CC Cobwebb (Webb for short) got her name.
