This is the first page in the scrapbook for my daughter to run as American Legion Auxiliary Poppy Princess.

Journaling reads: Being Little Miss poppy has taught me many things. I have learned about the American Legion Auxiliary, veterans, community service, the poppy program, about being a good citizen, and that I am a role model to girls younger than me. It has been a wonderful year full of events. My name is Alexis Futischa. I am a ten year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. I am eligible for membership through my great Aunt Sheila Parra who retired from the Air Force. She is a dual member of Coalgate's Legion & Auxiliary. My great grandfather Jack Taylor served in the Army and his father, Cecil Taylor, served in the Navy. My grandfather Roy Futischa served in the Air Force. Even my stepfather served in the Army. I come from a long line of service members. The Auxiliary allows me to serve my veterans and community well.

To run for poppy princess, my daughter has to write two essays and turn in a scrapbook showing how she promoted the poppy program throughout the year.
