This is a layout for my BOM. The journaling reads: It was a changing day when we moved to Olney. We had moved all over the place for my mom to be with the man she loved. He had us living in a trailer with no electricity and no running water. After a winter with no heat, taking showers outside with a water hose, keeping our food at someone else’s house since we did not have a refrigerator, and hearing the rats living inside the walls of the trailer... I was ready for a change. Not to mention all the fist fights my mom won and lost. I stayed out of the house as much as possible.
I was eleven years old. I was 5‘4“ and weighed 120. I was solid. Every day I walked at least four miles. Sometimes more. I was not allowed to swim without an adult, but all summer I had walked two miles to a natural spring to swim. In the two mile walk home I would dry off and no one ever knew I spent the whole afternoon swimming. There was a rock quarry three miles from home. Sometimes I would walk to it and climb the cubed rocks to sit as high as I could and just enjoy the peace it brought me. There was a stream nearby that I would play in. The water was only a couple feet deep, but it was enough to cool me off after the hike. Finally, after all the fights, drinking, and arrests my mom decided to move us home.
Our family had lived in Olney for five generations. Land was allotted to our native american ancestors. It had been gambled away by the men, but it was home. My grandmother moved a house out to the country to be close to her mother. Her sister moved a house in next to Grandma, but it was meant to be rented out. I was so happy to move next door to Grandma. She had made me feel safe and reminded me that God knew everything and everyone must pay for their sins in the end. She had given me comfort when I thought there was none to be found. We were less than a city block from her house. To top it off, it was only Mom and me. We would get Shena as soon as we could, but this was going to be home.
