I could name this Pain in the bottom! I lost track of how many ways and times I tried to get this right. I finally ended up tracing the stencil on cardstock and laminating it to make it stronger. I tried to paint the laminated side (I had laminated 2 sheets together to try to make it stronger.) and it wouldn't hold the paint very well. When I cut the pieces out, the pages separated. So, I ended up painting the non-laminated side.
